Art + Design Senior Show

Launching Students Into Careers

The Art + Design Senior Show is the senior capstone for BFA students. It provides a platform for students to display their diverse range of artworks and designs. The exhibition space comes alive with captivating paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, digital creations, and design projects. It is a testament to the dedication, creativity, and technical expertise of the graduating class.

From the selection of artworks to the curation of the exhibition space, the senior students take on the responsibility of organizing every aspect of the show. This hands-on experience allows them to apply their artistic vision, develop professional skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the exhibition process. Working closely with their professors, the students receive valuable guidance and mentorship, ensuring that the exhibition reflects their artistic goals and aspirations.

One of the highlights of the Senior Show is the closing reception, which serves as a celebration of the students' achievements. It brings together faculty, students, friends, family, and members of the art community to appreciate the works on display. The closing reception offers an opportunity for the artists and designers to interact with visitors, share their creative processes, and receive feedback on their artwork. It creates a vibrant and supportive atmosphere that fosters dialogue and connections between emerging artists and the wider artistic community.

The Senior Show and its closing reception not only mark the end of an academic journey but also represent the beginning of a new chapter in the students' artistic careers. It provides a launchpad for them to enter the professional art and design world, showcasing their talent and potential to potential employers, galleries, and artistic institutions. It stands as a celebration of their dedication, passion, and artistic voices.

The Senior Show at George Mason University is a powerful testament to the transformative power of art and design education and highlights the outstanding achievements of the graduating students as they embark on their artistic endeavors beyond the university walls.

The dinosaur that Tristan Crum (BFA, Sculpture) chose is a Deinonychus, a medium-sized raptor that has an imposing presence and elegant form that inspired the dinosaur renaissance of the mid twentieth century that changed people's conception of dinosaurs from slow, dumb, giant lizards, to swift and agile active animals.
