The Letterpress Studio provides students with access to a timeless printing technique. The studio houses traditional letterpress equipment and type, allowing students to learn the art of setting and printing with movable type.
The Letterpress Studio is fully equipped with a Vandercook press. Our press can handle wood type, metal type, and photopolymer plates for quick and efficient printing of multiples and editions. Also housed within the Letterpress Studio is a Glowforge laser cutter which can cut multiple materials, as well as provide an alternative to etching and even custom typefaces for the Vandercook. The use of both analog and digital techniques within our studio provides the necessary interdisciplinary skills to navigate the contemporary field of art and design. Students enrolled in typeface design and letterpress techniques can use the studio freely.
