SoA Print Shop Internships

Internships

The School of Art Print Studio operates an internship program each semester to help students get a more in-depth and hands-on look into the printing process, print quality management, and proper file handling and preparation.

Requirements

We are looking for friendly, talented, and hardworking individuals to assist in and learn from our day-to-day operation. Applicants should have interest in a related field such as photography, graphic design, or digital art.

Interns are required to be present for at least two hours a day, two days a week during our hours (excluding Friday). As this is a 1 credit course, the credit will be added to your tuition like any other class. Students are welcome to take the internship for more credits but more hours will be required.

Learning

Interns will gain extensive knowledge concerning fine art printers and processing techniques, as well as develop skills in customer service. This includes:

  • Inkjet vs. Laser Printing
  • Printer Maintenance
  • Printing on rolls vs. sheets
  • Paper specifications
  • Proper paper handling
  • Paper margins
  • Color management
  • Creating and applying ramps
  • Resolution
  • Impositioning booklets
  • Scanning and photomerge
  • Basic color correction
  • Aiding customers
  • Problem solving
  • Other relevant topics of interest
