A fall 2023 survey revealed the following interesting facts about our alumni:

  • 95% of our alumni are employed.
  • 89% are employed in the art and design field and are working in an industry that is related to their AVT degree.
  • Job titles include Art Specialist, Creative Manager, Art Teacher, Graphic Designer, Creative Strategist, Production Designer, Photographer, Design Patent Examiner, and Biophilic Design Specialist, to name a few.
  • Our alumni are nationwide and global:  from Maine to California, from Norway to Saudi Arabia.

    Savannah is a painter who lives and works in the Washington, D.C. area. She graduated from George Mason University in 2017 with degrees in Anthropology and Painting.
  • Steven Luu

    BFA, Sculpture, 2022
    MFA, expected date of graduation - 2026

    The wounds of combat have had a profound impact on Steven Luu. Born in Saigon, Vietnam, he is a survivor of the Communist oppression. For nearly 44 years, he was relocated to numerous places. Him and his family were placed in re-education camps by Vietnamese Communist when he was only 1 year old.
  • Hunter Muirheid

    Hunter Muirheid received his Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in graphic design from George Mason University, Fairfax in 2024. He posts for the School of Art socials and also works on prints, web updates, and the newsletter.

  • Dustin Rogers

    MFA, Painting/Art and Visual Technology, 2011

    Dustin obtained his MFA in Painting at Kendall College of Art and Design after relocating to Grand Rapids, Michigan on scholarship. He obtained his BFA in Art and Visual Technology: Painting at George Mason University in my hometown of Fairfax, Virginia.
  • Pat Sargent

    Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Patrick Sargent joined the military at age 17 to become a U.S. Air Force security policeman. In 2002, after twenty years of service, he prepared to retire from the military, and while completing his degree in political science an entry-level printmaking class changed his trajectory.

    Anne is teaching artist for the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and has taught drawing at George Mason University. Her art practice includes processes of drawing, sculpture, and printmaking to study variations on boundaries, paths, and liminal spaces.
  • Erwin Thamm work

    Technical Assistant Manager, CVPA

    Erwin (Elmo) is an artist, printmaker, photographer, and video editor. He traveled extensively with his military family before settling in the Washington, D.C. area.
