Attention Art Lovers and Skate Board enthusiasts

Tonight is the opening of the latest chapter of the @finding_a_line initiative. If you have friends or family in New Haven, CT encourage them to attend.

At the event tonight, Artspace: New Haven presents Skate Haven, the Open Source 2021 Festival opening day from 4:00-7:00 pm EST

Finding a Line: New Haven will be holding it down at the bowl throughout the festival. Skate Haven will feature skating, beats, and refreshments for all ages.

  • Opening remarks – 4pm
  • Youth skateboarding lessons – 4:30pm
  • Under 18 Jam and Live Music – 6pm
  • 18+ Jam – 7:30pm.
  • DJ Set by @ch_varda – 9pm

@finding_a_line is a culmination of projects by Sculpture Faculty, Ben Ashworth.

Ben curates and builds ongoing community sourced public art projects that combine skateboarding, education, construction, music, media, and visual art as a socially-engaged platform. As a process, he invites artists and community members to weekly interactive, spontaneous sessions where their combined energies and diverse backgrounds enrich the developing art spaces. His work has been featured at the Kennedy Center, Yale, and more!

Ben’s community art practice has been the subject of various publications, including NPR, McSweeney’s, The Washington Post, Jazz Times, BBC, ARTnews, JUICE, Landscape Architecture, and National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
